How does the Reserves Locker work?

Answer:

To use the Reserves Locker (located just outside our front entrance), you'll first need to put an item on hold and select the "Reserves Locker" pickup location. This tells our staff that you want to pick the item(s) up in a locker rather than inside at the checkout desk.

Once you've put the item(s) on hold, wait for the library to send you a text or email that they are ready for pickup. Your notification email will tell you whether the item you requested will be picked up inside ("Library") or outside in the lockers ("Reserves Locker").

Now's the fun part - get your item(s), even if we're closed! The Reserves Locker is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so you can pick up your holds on your schedule.

When at the kiosk, scan your library card. You can also type your card number in manually. The system will read your card number and automatically pop open the locker that holds your item(s). Take your item(s) from the locker, and don't forget to shut the locker door! If you have items in multiple lockers, the system will open all lockers assigned to your account.

Locker won't open? There may be a few reasons:

  • Weather conditions can affect our lockers and their locking mechanisms. There may have been a lock fault.
  • Due to high demand, not all Reserves Locker pickup requests can be fulfilled and we may have to hold your items inside with the remainder of the reserves.

If you try to retrieve your items from the Reserves Locker and it will not allow you to, please see a staff member inside the library for help. If you experience an error after-hours, you can send us an email or give us a call and we can look into the error during our operating hours.
