Are reservations required to use a room?

Answer:

Reservations are required to use one of our Conference Rooms - the Community Room or the Glotzbecker Room.

Our smaller meeting rooms, however, can be used on a first-come, first-served basis if you do not wish to make a reservation or were not able to make one at least a day in advance. When at the library, you can see which rooms are available by looking at the tablets located outside each room. The tablets will display the following:

  • Rooms that are available for use will be empty and display a green screen that says "Available." If a screen says available, but the room is occupied, that room is not available for you to use - you are not permitted to ask other patrons to leave the room.
  • If a screen says "Upcoming Booking," that means someone has reserved the room and their reservation time is starting very soon. It is a good idea to find another room.
  • If a screen says "In Use," that means someone has the room reserved at this time. The screen will tell you when their reservation is over, so you can come back and check if the room is open at that time.

The tablets will also let you know when any additional reservations for today are scheduled. You can tap on the button that reads "Show Availability" to see a list of all bookings for the next week.

If you find a room that is open and available for the time you need, you may enter and use the room right away. Note that if you are using a room up until the time of another patron's reservation, you will be asked to leave the room.

Remember that same-day reservations are not permitted, and will be denied by staff. You must make a reservation, for either Conference or Meeting rooms, at least one day in advance and up to 90 days in advance.
