Do you have Kindle books?

Answer:

You can borrow ebooks on your Kindle by using Libby (from your mobile device) and Library2Go (from a laptop/desktop computer). These two are both the same resource, just two different ways to access it.

To access and borrow Kindle books on Libby, make sure you've downloaded the Libby app on your mobile device and linked your library card. Then...

  1. Search for a particular item or genre.
  2. When you see search results, use the filter button (looks like 3 lines), scroll to the end of the filters list, and tap the button that says "kindle." This will filter your search results to only items that are compatible to read on your kindle.
  3. Borrow the item by tapping the word "borrow."
  4. Go to your shelf, and next to the item tap the words "Read with..."
  5. You will be given two options: "Kindle" and "Libby." To send the item to your Kindle, tap "Kindle."
  6. The app will redirect you to Amazon, where you may be prompted to log in to your Amazon account to continue.
  7. Tap the "Get Library Book" button, and it will be loaded to your account. You can now go onto your Kindle, and the book should appear ready for you to read.

To access books on Library2Go on your computer, go to https://lib2go.overdrive.com/ and sign in using the blue "Sign In" button in the top right corner. Once you're signed in...

  1. Use the "Search" to search for an item or genre.
  2. On the search results page, on the left side there is a list of filter. Click the "Ebooks" section to expand the list of ebook filters, and click the words "Kindle Book." This will show only items that are compatible with reading on Kindle.
  3. When you've found a title you wish to borrow, click the word "Borrow." A small window will appear where you can select how long you wish to borrow the title for, and click "Borrow" again.
  4. Another small window will appear. Here, you can choose to "Read now with Kindle" or "Read now in browser." To read on your Kindle, choose the "Read now with Kindle" button.
  5. You will be redirected to Amazon, where you may be prompted to log in to your Amazon account to continue if you are not already signed in on your browser.
  6. Click the "Get Library Book" button, and it will be loaded to your account. You can now go onto your Kindle, and the book should appear ready for you to read.
