I returned a book from RPL to another library. What do I do?
Answer:
Because we are a single library with no other branches or partners, any book that you return to a different library will have to be retrieved from that library and brought back here. We currently do not have any agreements with other libraries to transport mistakenly returned items to the proper library, and it is the responsibility of the borrowing patron to retrieve and return the item. The item will remain on your account until it is returned to the Rogers Public Library, and will still be billed as lost if it remains overdue for more than 28 days.
If you've realized a book you returned was given to the wrong library, you'll want to visit that library and see if they have it. When you get the item back from them, be sure to bring it back to RPL so it can be checked in. Any applicable overdue, damage, or lost fines will still be assessed.
If the library you returned the book to catches the mistake before you do, they may give us a call so we can find out who has the item checked out. In that case, staff at RPL will give you a call and let you know the books were set aside at the other library, where you can pick them up to bring them back to RPL.
